Our facilities
North East SCITT is based at founding school, The Academy at Shotton Hall.
Situated in Peterlee on the East Durham Coast, the Academy is recognised both regionally and nationally for its effective approaches to teaching and learning and its consistent high performance year-on-year. Ofsted rated the school as 'Outstanding' in 2024 for the third consecutive time.
As a national research school and national teaching school the Academy is at the forefront of educational practice. Many of the Academy's staff work across the Trust to implement innovative teaching and learning strategies to foster a culture of sharing best practice.

Training hubs
Traynor House, Peterlee
Traynor House, on the outskirts of Peterlee, is our home away from home. This is also where we find the North East Learning Trusts' bustling head office - a secure facility boasting a bright and spacious conference room.
Meadowdale Academy, Bedlington
Due to growing demand for a Northumberland-based training hub, we are thrilled to be launching our new training hub at Meadowdale Academy in Bedlington. The training room, situated at the heart of a vibrant nursery and primary school, offers the added benefit of lesson observation opportunities.
What does this mean for you?
Alongside your school placements, you will benefit from core training with your North East SCITT cohort each Thursday on topics such as behaviour, safeguarding and lesson planning.
With the launch of our new Northumberland training hub from September 2025, this means trainees have the option of attending their core training at the venue most convenient to them.
Live North of the Tyne but studying a secondary subject? No problem, you can still choose to train at Meadowdale Academy.
